Neon grids in production UI: restraint beats glow

Neon accents can signal technical credibility, but accessibility wins when contrast budgets are planned. We treat grid lines as background texture at very low opacity, then anchor interactive elements with borders that brighten on hover.
In mobile shells, we keep body copy in a humanist sans while using monospace only for labels and metadata. That pairing preserves readability on long lesson pages. Motion stays linear and short—no elastic easing that distracts from code samples.
Students asked whether dark-first themes hurt daytime usage; we answer with manual brightness tests on mid-tier Android panels, not assumptions. If your brand guidelines forbid pure black backgrounds, shift to deep blue-greys and re-measure contrast against accent lines.
